Wet Dreams (2006)

Description

Wet Dreams, by Jan Erkert, explores the world of the bath where the strict rules of society are relaxed and women can breathe deeply, share secrets and imagine the unimaginable. Design elements created by sculptor Philip Livingston and costume designer Carol Genetti include an environment of sheets, towels, stools and screens in which private moments are both concealed and revealed. Wet Dreams is built on a year of researching bathing rituals that took Erkert to Turkey, Japan, and Finland.

Wet Dreams is part of an evening- length work, Gallons of Water and Miles of Skin, inspired by a year long tour of communal bathing spots around the world.
